Cobb, who has been at Another Man for a decade, announces today that he is stepping down as the magazine’s editor-in-chief

After a decade at Another Man, it’s announced today that Ben Cobb is stepping down as editor-in-chief of the magazine. Having joined as editor in 2009, Ben has worked as Another Man’s editor-in-chief since 2015. Under his tenure, Another Man has celebrated the heroes, game-changers and rule-breakers at the epicentre of the creative worlds.
As editor-in-chief of Another Man, Ben has worked on iconic and era-defining stories. Harry Styles, Skepta, David Beckham and Keith Richards have appeared on Another Man covers, and the magazine has published exclusive interviews with luminaries like Alex Turner, David Lynch, and John Galliano. Championing a fusion of fashion and culture, Ben has also engineered collaborations and conversations with Patti Smith, Vincent Gallo, the Chapman Brothers, Chris Cunningham, Nick Cave, the Rolling Stones, and NASA, working closely with Another Man’s creative director Alister Mackie.
The last decade in the world of Another Man has been shaped by Ben (a universe launched online in 2017 with anothermanmag.com). Issues’ contents have spanned from the most desirable of contemporary men’s fashion to archival treasure troves of 20th-century countercultural provocateurs. Another Man Autumn/Winter 2019, his final issue, features profiles of rapper 21 Savage and dancer Victor Polster, imagery from longtime contributors Willy Vanderperre, Paolo Roversi and Harley Weir, a deep dive into the archives of legendary filmmaker Luchino Visconti, and an essay by Tim Blanks on a search for a happy ending.
“We would like to thank Ben for his outstanding contribution to Another Man,” says Jefferson Hack. “He has been an incredible leader, collaborator and colleague and we will miss his unique presence. We wish him all the best for his next adventure.”
“When I look back on the editors I have known and loved, Ben Cobb stands out for many reasons,” says Blanks, senior contributing editor of Another Man. “I have a very particular view of the multiverse and there are very few people I know who embrace a personal vision that is made up of equal parts HP Lovecraft, Kenneth Anger and Andy Warhol. Oh, and disco. Making essays for him every issue has been a huge challenge (for him) and an absolute joy (for me). I will miss those agonised late night calls. And I will also profoundly miss the moment when I knew I’d made him happy by actually giving him what he wanted. Can we say ‘end of an era’ without sounding like some hapless pop-cultural cliche?”
“I would like to thank Jefferson, Alister Mackie and the entire Another Man team for their trust, support and friendship over the last decade,” says Ben. “I am immensely proud of the work we produced together over that time. I’m excited to take this wealth of experience into my next chapter.” As Blanks says, it’s the end of an era.
