On December 22, just before Christmas, Calvin Klein announced that it was parting ways with its chief creative officer, the Belgian designer Raf Simons, signalling the end to an exciting moment in American fashion. The label, it declared in a statement, has “decided on a new brand direction which differs from Simons’ creative vision”.

During his tenure, which lasted just under two years, Simons applied his famously modern and innovative approach to all aspects of the American brand, from its luxury 205W39NYC line to its jeans, underwear and home offering – which, together with the imagery he produced in partnership with his longtime collaborator and Another Man contributor Willy Vanderperre, transformed the way we looked at the label.
