The shows are about to commence – here’s your guide to what’s going on

As Brexit looms, bush fires burn and Trump triggers rumours of WWIII, the Autumn/Winter 2020 menswear shows are about to get underway, commencing tomorrow with London Fashion Week Men’s – maybe channelling this existential angst into beautiful clothes and hopefully providing some distraction from our impending apocalypse. Here, without any further ado, are some of the moments you won’t want to miss.
London
In London, Wales Bonner and Martine Rose look set to deliver the standout shows of the season, with Stefan Cooke – who, alongside partner Jake Burt, is gaining attention for subversive, technique-heavy menswear – and Charles Jeffrey – this season, styled by Another Man’s fashion editor Reuben Esser – also set to make waves. London is always the place for new ideas and this group will surely deliver just that.
Florence
Over at Pitti Uomo in Florence, Stefano Pilati’s brand Random Identities, Jil Sander – helmed by Luke and Lucie Meier – and Telfar are the season’s guest designers. Staging an exhibition as well as a show, Telfar promises to “colonise the past”, “projecting itself into the Italian Renaissance to imagine the unfolding of alternate futures”, while Pilati is hosting a “special event” – precisely what this entails, though, is still under wraps.
Milan
It’s set to be a strong season in Milan with the return of Gucci – showing as part of Milan Men’s Fashion Week for the first time since 2016, though the collection will presumably not adhere to strict gender binaries – and Alexander McQueen, which is staging a presentation. On top of that, Prada, Fendi and Marni will be showing, all of which we’re excited for.
Paris
Over in the city of lights, two of London’s most celebrated menswear talents – Craig Green and Kiko Kostadinov – will be making their Paris Men’s Fashion Week debuts; an exciting moment for both designers. Marc Jacobs and Dries Van Noten alumnus Spencer Phipps will be staging his eponymous brand’s third show, styled by Another Man’s fashion director Ellie Grace Cumming, while our usual favourites – Rick Owens, Raf Simons, Comme des Garçons, Ann Demeulemeester, Dior, Loewe and Louis Vuitton – will, if their track records are anything to go by, continue to remind us why we do our jobs.
