See Martine Rose’s ‘Very Cheeky’ New Collection

While she’s arguably one of the most influential forces in menswear today, Martine Rose chose to opt out of the fashion week schedule this season, deciding instead to debut her new collection via a lookbook shot by the brilliant photographer Eloise Parry. Revealed yesterday, the accompanying notes described her A/W19 line as “very cheeky”, with badges and belts featuring Steve Terry’s (a longtime collaborator) collection of homoerotic images and slogans like “as thin as a shadow, as strong as an ox” and “the best” borrowed from 1950s condom packaging. Featuring track tops and football shirts which are ruched and cutaway, the collection also features references to West Indian home interiors and the designer’s own background (via Jamaica- and Bristol-inspired prints).
