Last week designer Yang Li hosted a silent auction in New York to benefit his friend and collaborator, the artist and musician Genesis P-Orridge. Staged at the Ace Hotel, and hosted with Opening Ceremony, the event saw both Genesis and Yang part ways with unique items, including records, books and prints – the funds from which went straight to supporting Genesis in h/er battle with Myelomonocytic Leukemia and to assisting with h/er medical expenses. The auction drew special guests including former and current Psychic TV members, experimental musicians Dominick Fernow and Becka Diamond, and David Ortega and Laura Genninger of Studio 191.
