See Gucci’s Latest Cruise Collection, Captured by Yorgos Lanthimos

Yorgos Lanthimos, best known for his work as a film director – he is the man behind The Favourite, which won Olivia Colman Best Actress at this year’s Oscars – has photographed Gucci’s latest menswear Cruise collection. The Cruise 2020 lookbook was shot at the Leda Gallery of Villa Albani Torlonia in Rome, the city in which creative director Alessandro Michele grew up. The gallery is famed for The Leda and the Swan, a Roman copy of an earlier Greek statue – Michele said he chose the location for this reason, saying he wanted to “magnify the importance of the value of the copy, at times more authentic and real than its original”. The photographs will be collated in an IDEA-published book later this year, also available at Gucci Garden in Florence and the Gucci Wooster Bookstore in New York, with proceeds going towards helping to restore the gallery.
