Fred Perry Celebrates Youth Culture With New Exhibitions

Fred Perry has opened two new exhibitions in collaboration with Museum of Youth Culture, a new museum that seeks to preserve the stories and subcultures of young people, from the bomb-site Bicycle racers in post-war 1940s London to the Acid House ravers of 1980s Northern England. Opened just last week, the immersive From Bedrooms to Basements pop-up shows are held in two of the brand’s London stores – Camden High Street and Henrietta Street, Covent Garden – celebrating the styles, scenes and sounds created by young people over the last century. Encompassing a mixture of crowdsourced photography, youth culture ephemera and pieces from the Fred Perry archive, the exhibition also invites visitors to contribute their own piece of youth culture history via a DIY scanning booth. Each submission – which could range from flyers to photos – has the chance to be included in future shows and on the brand’s Instagram.
