Fendi is Now Making the Iconic Baguette Bag For Men
- TextHannah Tindle
Today, Fendi closed Milan men’s fashion week with a clear statement: the Baguette is back, and in 2019 it can now be carried by men, too. The ‘it’ accessory – designed by Silvia Venturi Fendi in 1997 and subsequently seen on anyone who was anyone up until the early aughts – made a resurgence during the brand’s S/S19 womenswear collection, embellished and embroidered in loud colours befitting of Samantha Jones’ wardrobe. For the A/W19 menswear show, the baguette was re-imagined in nylon and leather crossbody iterations, with the classic hand-held style appearing on the catwalk in shearling and faux fur. The house follows in the footsteps of Kim Jones at Dior Men, who re-issued the iconic monogrammed saddle bags for men last season.
